OnlyFans Model Courtney Clenney Faces Wrongful Death Lawsuit Following Boyfriend's Fatal Stabbing

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Newly released video footage from the Florida State Attorney's Office reveals OnlyFans personality Courtney Clenney physically assaulting Christian Obumseli in an elevator just months before his tragic death. Clenney's upcoming court appearance on Friday stems from negligence charges related to Obumseli's fatal stabbing with a kitchen knife in their luxurious Miami apartment over a year ago.

Obumseli's father, Chio Obumseli, has initiated a wrongful death lawsuit against Clenney, the building owners, management, and security company of the high-rise where the incident transpired. Representing his son's estate, Chio alleges Clenney's negligence contributed to an unsafe environment, culminating in the fatal stabbing on April 3, 2022, during an altercation in their 22nd-floor residence.

The lawsuit contends that Clenney, 26, fostered an atmosphere conducive to criminal activity within the building. The estate seeks compensation for medical, funeral expenses, lost future income, and the family's emotional distress. Clenney, known online as Courtney Tailor, has been incarcerated since her August arrest on a second-degree murder charge for the death of her boyfriend, a cryptocurrency trader, with whom she shared a tumultuous relationship.

Clenney's legal team maintains that she was a victim of domestic abuse and acted in self-defense. However, police records and other evidence suggest a pattern of mutual abuse between the couple. Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle described their relationship as volatile and marked by conflict. In a statement to police following the incident, Clenney reportedly expressed uncertainty about the justification of her actions.

The criminal charges have effectively halted Clenney's thriving online career. Tax returns reveal substantial earnings from her OnlyFans content, excluding other income sources such as Instagram, where she has a significant following, and various sponsorship agreements. Clenney's next court appearance is scheduled for May 9 in Miami-Dade criminal court. Her attorney, Frank Prieto, intends to defend both the civil and criminal cases vigorously, asserting that the civil suit is motivated by financial gain due to the involved companies' substantial insurance policies. Prieto claims Clenney lacks significant assets, and he anticipates the civil case will be dismissed upon her vindication in the criminal proceedings.
