Dallas Officers' Heroic Rescue Saves Woman from Submerged Car

In a dramatic Independence Day weekend rescue, two Dallas police sergeants pulled a woman from a sinking car in Bachman Lake, ultimately reviving her with CPR. Sergeants Paul Kessenich and Matt Carlson were responding to a separate call in the early morning hours of July 3rd when they received the dispatch about the submerged vehicle. Their close proximity to the scene, which Sergeant Kessenich attributed to "divine intervention," proved crucial.

Hearing muffled cries from the submerged car, the officers quickly realized the urgency of the situation. As they prepared for the rescue, the woman surfaced briefly, struggling, before sinking again. Sergeant Carlson, without hesitation, jumped into the lake, followed by Sergeant Kessenich. They reached the woman, whose car trunk was still slightly above the waterline, and held her there until additional officers arrived.

Bodycam footage shows the officers pulling the unconscious woman from the water and onto the shore. They immediately began administering CPR. After a tense moment, Sergeant Kessenich's efforts paid off, and the woman regained consciousness, coughing and gasping for air. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital, where she is reportedly recovering well.
