Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is gearing up for a rematch against the No. 2 Texas Longhorns in the 2024 SEC Championship game, a contest set to take place in Atlanta this Saturday. The two teams previously clashed in Austin earlier this season, with Georgia emerging victorious by a 15-point margin. This upcoming championship game follows Georgia's recent eight-overtime triumph over Georgia Tech and Texas's victory against their in-state rivals, Texas A&M.
Interestingly, Beck revealed an unconventional approach to football viewing, admitting that he generally avoids watching games during his downtime due to the stress it induces. When asked about watching the Texas-Texas A&M game, Beck stated, "I don’t watch football. I know that sounds kind of crazy, but I don’t enjoy watching football. It’s not fun for me." He elaborated, explaining that watching games triggers an analytical response that prevents him from simply enjoying the sport. "If I watch that game, I’m not going to be able to just sit there and enjoy it. I’m going to stress myself out the whole entire time." He added, "Watching the defense, I’m like, ‘Why this coverage?’ I’m like, ‘Well, why did he throw it there against this coverage?’"

Despite his aversion to casual game viewing, Beck emphasized the importance of film study in his preparation. "But I’ve watched the film back, obviously now, knowing that we’re going to be playing Texas in the SEC championship," Beck confirmed. He praised Texas's defensive prowess and the strategic acumen of their coordinator, adding, "Their defense is really good. They have a lot of talent on defense. Their defensive coordinator does a good job of putting them in good positions. Executing and playing at a high level. Just excited for the opportunity to play them again."

Last year, Georgia fell short in the SEC Championship game against Alabama, resulting in their absence from the College Football Playoff. This year, their recent victory against Georgia Tech has significantly improved their chances of securing a spot in the expanded 12-team playoff, regardless of the SEC Championship outcome.
