ICE Apprehends Guatemalan Fugitive Wanted for Murder in Texas

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Fort Worth, Texas, recently apprehended a Guatemalan national residing in the U.S. illegally. The individual, 37-year-old Dennis Alexander Valenzuela, was wanted for murder in his home country. His arrest took place at his residence on January 31st.

According to ICE, Valenzuela entered the United States without proper documentation near Hidalgo, Texas, on June 16, 2021. He was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol agents the same day and issued a Notice to Appear, in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Acting ICE Dallas Field Office Director Joshua Johnson emphasized the agency's commitment to apprehending individuals residing in the country illegally, particularly those with criminal backgrounds. He stated that Valenzuela’s arrest and impending removal demonstrate ICE’s dedication to enforcing U.S. laws and protecting communities.

Valenzuela is currently being held at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, awaiting removal proceedings.
