In a thrilling rescue operation on Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard saved a man whose 42-foot sport fishing boat, the "Done Deal," became engulfed in flames in the Delaware Bay's main shipping channel. The incident unfolded around 11 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Coast Guard after receiving a report from a vigilant good Samaritan.
The good Samaritan relayed crucial updates, informing authorities that the boat was completely ablaze and that the lone individual on board had moved to the front of the vessel. Moments later, the man was forced to jump into the water as the fire intensified.

A Coast Guard response boat promptly arrived at the scene and extracted the man from the bay. Additional support arrived from the Downe Township Fire and Rescue (New Jersey) and the Little Creek Fire Company (Delaware), successfully extinguishing the blaze.

The rescued boater was brought ashore in New Jersey for medical evaluation. Fortunately, besides potential smoke inhalation, no significant injuries were reported.

Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Higgins commended the collaborative effort, emphasizing the crucial role of the good Samaritan's quick communication in saving the man's life. The Coast Guard is actively investigating the cause of the fire, with marine environmental responders monitoring for any potential ecological impact.
