Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams will not face league disciplinary action following an October 2024 incident involving an unlicensed firearm, as reported by the Detroit Free Press. Williams was pulled over on October 8, 2024, with his brother. Both had handguns in the vehicle. While the firearms were legally registered, Williams lacked a concealed carry permit, potentially leading to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. Williams' brother, however, possessed a valid concealed pistol license.

Although Williams was initially handcuffed at the scene, he was not arrested or formally charged. Reports indicate the police sergeant who recognized Williams as a Lions fan contacted higher-ranking officers. Subsequently, a lieutenant instructed the sergeant to release the brothers. Bodycam footage reportedly reveals the sergeant's phone background displayed a Lions logo.

While the NFL has opted against disciplinary measures in this specific incident, Williams did serve a two-week suspension shortly after the event for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. Lions head coach Dan Campbell expressed his support for Williams, acknowledging the challenges the receiver has faced, some self-inflicted. Campbell commended Williams for learning from his experiences and expressed pride in his progress.
