Former Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Manchester United manager José Mourinho has been handed a 10-day suspension from Serie A for comments directed at referee Daniele Chiffi. The Italian Football Federation issued the ban, which will cause Mourinho to miss Roma's season opener and potentially their second match as well, depending on the fixture schedule.

The incident stems from Roma's 1-1 draw with Monza on May 3rd, after which Mourinho labeled Chiffi "the worst referee I have encountered in my career." This outburst has resulted in a €50,000 fine for both Mourinho and AS Roma. This recent disciplinary action follows a separate four-match ban imposed by UEFA for Mourinho's verbal abuse of referee Anthony Taylor during the Europa League final.

This 10-day suspension adds to a growing list of disciplinary issues for the controversial manager. It remains to be seen how this latest sanction will impact Mourinho and Roma's preparations for the upcoming Serie A season.
