Surveillance footage appears to show the moment Lloyd Brewer III, a 57-year-old Key West businessman, fatally shot 21-year-old Garrett Daniel Hughes on February 13th. The incident occurred outside Conch Town Liquor & Lounge in Key West, Florida, after Hughes urinated on a wall of a nearby building owned by Brewer. The video, obtained by Fox News Digital, shows Hughes exiting the bar and relieving himself against the wall while his brother and friends stood nearby. Brewer is then seen allegedly retrieving a firearm from his waistband and confronting Hughes. A brief altercation ensues, culminating in Brewer allegedly firing two shots, one of which struck Hughes in the abdomen. Hughes attempted to flee but collapsed in the parking lot. Brewer contacted 911, claiming self-defense and stating that Hughes was the aggressor. However, prosecutors argue that Brewer was intoxicated and that the video evidence contradicts his self-defense claim. The victim's father, John Hughes, is the head football coach at Key West High School, where Garrett was a prominent athlete. The Hughes family is devastated by the loss, and their attorney, Stuart Grossman, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Brewer, describing the incident as a "totally unjustified and premeditated" murder.
