Numerous reports of unidentified drones flying over various counties in New Jersey have prompted an investigation by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). While local authorities haven't yet requested intervention from U.S. Northern Command, the military is aware of and monitoring the situation, particularly given some sightings near military installations like Picatinny Arsenal and Naval Weapons Station Earle. A U.S. Northern Command spokesperson confirmed they are tracking the situation but haven't been asked to intervene, stating that the FBI and local law enforcement are leading the investigation.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the issue, stating that the drones are not believed to be foreign and that President Biden is aware of the ongoing investigation. The FAA initially received reports of drone activity on November 18th in Morris County, close to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Somerset County. Subsequent sightings have been reported in nearby areas like Mendham and Parsippany, as well as other locations across the state.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy reported 49 drone sightings on Sunday, primarily in Hunterdon County, acknowledging that this number might include duplicate reports of the same drone. Federal lawmakers from both parties are closely monitoring the situation and urging national security agencies to release more information as it becomes available.

The ongoing drone activity has raised concerns and sparked numerous questions, with authorities working diligently to determine the source and purpose of these flights.
