A woman in her sixties lost her life in a car crash during a police pursuit in Bel Aire, Kansas, a suburb of Wichita. Authorities report she was fleeing the scene of a shooting that occurred earlier that morning near El Dorado. The victim of the shooting was transported to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper located the suspect's pickup truck shortly after the reported shooting and initiated a pursuit. In an attempt to halt the vehicle before it entered a densely populated area of north Wichita, the trooper executed a tactical maneuver. The maneuver resulted in the suspect's vehicle colliding with a sign in a business parking lot. The woman, whose identity is yet to be released, died at the scene.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is conducting the crash investigation, while the Butler County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation into the shooting. Further details about the shooting have not yet been disclosed.
