Helicopter Crash in Swiss Alps Leaves Passengers Unharmed

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

A Swiss helicopter experienced a turbulent landing in the Alps on Tuesday, resulting in a crash near the Gnifetti peak, close to the Italian border. Fortunately, all five individuals on board escaped without injuries. The aircraft, operated by Air Zermatt, encountered unexpected turbulence during its descent, leading to a hard impact with the ground. The force of the impact caused the rotor blades to strike the ground, ultimately tipping the helicopter onto its side. The helicopter was transporting three glaciologists, along with the pilot and a flight assistant.
