An eight-month-old infant tragically passed away on May 31st in Sarasota, Florida, leading to the arrest of the child's parents following the discovery of lethal levels of fentanyl in the baby's system. Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies responded to a residence near Bee Ridge Road around 5:15 p.m. after receiving reports of the infant's death.

The investigation revealed that the baby's father, Nicholas Alexander, and a friend transported the unresponsive infant to Doctors Hospital. The mother, Carissa Alexander, had been caring for the child, who was reportedly found face-down on couch cushions. Investigators suggest the baby was unattended from 10:30 a.m. until 4:45 p.m., when Nicholas returned from work.
