Loretta, a spirited 104-year-old resident of a New York nursing home, recently celebrated her birthday in an unconventional way – by spending a day behind bars. This unusual request stemmed from a lifelong curiosity to experience what it's like to be inside a jail.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office gladly fulfilled Loretta's wish, sharing the heartwarming story on their Facebook page. They treated her to coffee and cake, took her fingerprints and mugshot, and even let her spend some time in a cell. Loretta also had the opportunity to meet several deputies, including a K-9 officer.

Hurlburt Care Communities, the company that owns Loretta’s nursing home, also posted about the special occasion, thanking the Sheriff's Office for making her dream a reality.

The Sheriff's Office described Loretta as a “great sport” and expressed their gratitude for the laughter she brought to their day. When asked about her secret to longevity, Loretta wittily replied, “Mind your business!”

Reaching the age of 104 is a remarkable feat achieved by a very small percentage of the US population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. While Loretta's age is impressive, the current title of oldest living American belongs to Naomi Whitehead, born in 1910.
