Ramaswamy, now 39, gained national attention during his 2024 presidential run, advocating for an "America First 2.0" platform and staunchly supporting Donald Trump. After concluding his presidential bid following the Iowa caucuses, he endorsed Trump and became a prominent figure on the campaign trail.

Following Trump's victory, Ramaswamy was briefly appointed to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk. However, he stepped down from this role shortly before Trump's inauguration, paving the way for Musk to lead the initiative. Ramaswamy expressed his confidence in Musk's ability to streamline government operations and hinted at future plans in Ohio.

Ramaswamy and Musk's shared stance on H-1B visas for skilled foreign workers drew criticism from some of Trump's supporters. Additionally, Ramaswamy's critique of American culture, which he perceived as valuing mediocrity, faced backlash from various voices on the right.

The Ohio gubernatorial race is shaping up to be a contested one. Current Attorney General Dave Yost has already announced his candidacy, and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel is also considering a run. Dr. Amy Acton is currently the sole Democratic candidate.
