Unidentified Drones Over New Jersey: Congressman Challenges Official Dismissals

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) is pushing back against high-ranking officials who have dismissed his claims about unidentified drones flying over New Jersey. Van Drew, citing "credible individuals with high security ratings," suggests the drones could be linked to a foreign entity, possibly Iran, operating from a vessel off the U.S. East Coast. He expressed concerns about the sophistication of the drones, noting they exceed current U.S. commercial capabilities and are potentially a decade behind Chinese technology.

Van Drew questioned the government's denials and highlighted the drones' ability to travel to and from the ocean, implying a potential mothership. He criticized the lack of transparency and urged authorities to investigate the drones' origin and purpose.

These drone sightings have been occurring for about a month, raising concerns among residents and officials. Van Drew, a member of the Transportation Committee and Aviation Subcommittee, has called for the drones to be shot down. Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh denied the existence of an Iranian ship or mothership launching drones, a statement echoed by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who cited a lack of evidence from the Defense Department and FBI. Murphy emphasized the situation is his "top priority" and assured the public there is no known immediate threat.
