A San Francisco resident with a history of alleged threats against children and their caregivers in city parks has pleaded not guilty in court. Thirty-seven-year-old Kim Andrews faces charges in four separate cases spanning the last four years, all involving alleged confrontations with children in public areas like playgrounds.
The most recent incident, leading to her court appearance, took place in Golden Gate Park on July 19th. Andrews allegedly approached a woman and her 18-month-old child, reportedly shouting threats while holding a lighter and an aerosol can of Lysol. She is charged with child endangerment and making criminal threats in connection with this event.

Since her arrest, Andrews has undergone four months of psychiatric treatment and entered a mental health conservatorship in November. Her defense attorney expressed concern that extended jail time could negatively impact her ongoing mental health care and access to necessary medications.

Despite Andrews' mental health status, the presiding judge described the alleged incidents as "horrific" and "extremely threatening," deeming her a public safety risk. Court records indicate prior arrests for battery, robbery, shoplifting, and making criminal threats.

Prosecutors are seeking to keep Andrews in custody pending trial, citing concerns for public safety. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has emphasized her commitment to ensuring the safety of children in the city and pursuing justice for the affected families.
