Trio from Philadelphia Apprehended for Alleged Multi-State Retail Theft Spree

Three individuals from Philadelphia are facing a series of charges, including grand larceny, organized retail theft, and resisting arrest, following their alleged involvement in a string of robberies targeting department stores across state lines.

Ericka Williams, Amin Shamsid-Deen, and Tunisia Amina Shamsid-Deen, all Philadelphia residents aged between 26 and 32, were taken into custody by Virginia authorities. Tunisia Shamsid-Deen faces an additional charge related to drug possession.

The arrests followed a tip received by authorities from a Saks Fifth Avenue employee in Chevy Chase, Maryland, regarding a robbery. The suspects were reported to have fled the scene in a gold Chevrolet Impala with Pennsylvania license plates. Utilizing license plate recognition technology, officers tracked the vehicle to Virginia.

The suspects were observed near a Saks Fifth Avenue store in McLean, Virginia. Two individuals allegedly entered the store, selected high-end handbags and other luxury items, and attempted to leave without paying. When confronted by store security, they fled the scene.

Law enforcement apprehended all three suspects, with one being discovered hiding in a dumpster. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects was also implicated in a theft from a different retail establishment.

Recovered stolen property was valued at approximately $15,000. The suspects are currently being held without bond in a local jail.
