Actor Josh Gad, known for voicing Olaf in Disney's "Frozen," recently revealed his 40-pound weight loss journey using a GLP-1 medication. In a candid conversation on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast, Gad shared his experience with the drug, acknowledging its effectiveness while also expressing concerns about its potential impact on his relationship with food and exercise.

Gad explained that the medication significantly reduces his hunger pangs, which he recognizes are partly psychological. GLP-1 medications primarily manage blood sugar levels in individuals with Type 2 diabetes, but some also aid in obesity treatment. Gad, 43, previously experienced health complications with another medication, leading to diverticulitis. While his current GLP-1 medication has been effective, he had to switch at one point and acknowledged the challenges of finding the right balance.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle alongside the medication, stating, "It can’t be in the place of having a healthy relationship with food. It can’t be in the place of having a healthy relationship with exercise." Gad admitted to feeling like he's "cheating" at times and expressed concerns about how his weight loss might affect his perceived identity in Hollywood, questioning whether he could transition from the "funny fat guy" to other roles.

Ultimately, Gad's priority is his family. He stated, "I want to be there for my kids. Everything else is bulls---." Gad shares two daughters, Isabella Eve and Ava Tanya, with his wife, Ida Darvish. He's navigating his weight loss journey while striving to maintain a balanced perspective on health and well-being.

"It can’t be in the place of having a healthy relationship with exercise. … I’m having my own journey with it. Sometimes I feel like I’m cheating myself by doing this."
