The Great Escape: How the Left is Running from Reality After Trump's Victory

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Following President-elect Trump's unexpected triumph, many on the left are struggling to accept the outcome. Instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, they're retreating to echo chambers and seeking refuge in alternative platforms. This exodus highlights a growing trend of avoiding uncomfortable realities rather than confronting them.

One prominent example is the mass migration from X (formerly Twitter) to platforms like Threads, Mastodon, and most recently, Bluesky. High-profile figures, including celebrities and media personalities, have abandoned X, citing its perceived toxicity. Ironically, upon arriving at Bluesky, some immediately began complaining about similar issues, overwhelming the platform's safety team with reports.

The exodus extends beyond social media. MSNBC, a traditionally left-leaning network, has experienced a significant drop in viewership since the election. The network's attempt to bridge the divide by having "Morning Joe" co-hosts meet with Trump backfired, resulting in further backlash and calls for boycotts from prominent left-wing figures.

Even MSNBC's parent company, Comcast, is distancing itself, spinning off its cable channels, including MSNBC and CNBC, into a separate entity. This move raises questions about the future of these networks and their potential rebranding.

The trend of avoidance isn't limited to media consumption. Some celebrities, who previously threatened to leave the country if Trump won, are reportedly making good on their promises. Others are opting for more extravagant escapes, such as a four-year world cruise designed specifically to avoid Trump's second term.
