Target Reverses Course, Will Sell Mark Levin's Book in Stores After Initial Refusal

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Following swift public reaction, including criticism from conservative radio host Mark Levin, Target has reversed its initial decision not to carry Levin's upcoming book, "The Democrat Party Hates America," in its physical stores. The retailer will now offer the book for sale both online and in stores upon its release on September 19th.

Target's initial decision stemmed from concerns about the book's title, which the company felt might be offensive to some customers. This led to Target informing Levin's publisher, Simon & Schuster, that the book would only be available for online pre-order, but not stocked in physical stores. Levin publicly called out Target for what he perceived as censorship, sharing the news on social media and his radio program.

The public response was swift, with many conservatives expressing their disapproval of Target's decision. Shortly thereafter, Target changed its stance and notified Simon & Schuster that the book would indeed be available in its brick-and-mortar locations. Levin, in an interview with Fox News Digital, praised the reversal, emphasizing the importance of free speech and market capitalism. He stated that he hadn't called for a boycott, but rather, the free market had responded organically to Target's initial decision. He encouraged corporations to embrace free speech and market principles.

Levin's new book, a follow-up to his bestseller "American Marxism," aims to expose what he describes as a dangerous agenda within the Democratic Party. The book's synopsis suggests it will delve into the party's history and ideology, arguing that it is a vehicle for Marxist philosophy and a new revolution.
