A 44-year-old Michigan man, Tony Roy, wanted in connection with the death and dismemberment of his wife, was fatally shot by Michigan State Police during a traffic stop in Detroit on Monday night. Police report that Roy pointed a firearm at a female passenger in his vehicle, prompting officers to open fire. Roy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident follows the discovery of human remains on Saturday in a Burton apartment, approximately 75 miles northwest of Detroit. Acting on a tip, Burton police found the remains, later identified as 41-year-old Shauna Roy, in garbage bags inside a bathtub. A subsequent investigation and evidence gathering led authorities to suspect Tony Roy and track him to the Detroit area.

During the traffic stop that led to the shooting, the female passenger in Roy's vehicle sustained minor injuries from shattered glass. Authorities have not released details about the woman or her connection to Roy.
