Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

In a truly unforgettable moment, Fairfield guard Deon Perry etched his name into college basketball lore with a stunning game-winning shot from the parking lot. With the score deadlocked at 56-56 and a mere 1.1 seconds remaining in the second half, Perry received an inbound pass from teammate Michael Rogan, turned, dribbled once, and launched a seemingly impossible heave from approximately 70 feet. The ball sailed through the air and swished through the net as time expired, sending the Fairfield faithful into a frenzy.

While Perry played just 19 minutes, he led Fairfield with 19 points on 6-14 shooting, emerging as the sole Stag to reach double figures. Jamie Bergens and Prophet Johnson each chipped in nine points, while Peyton Smith added eight. Marist was paced by Josh Pascarelli's 15 points and Jadin Collins-Roberts' 10. The improbable loss marked only the second MAAC defeat and fourth overall for Marist this season, dropping their record to 16-4 (9-2 MAAC). Fairfield, meanwhile, improved to 9-14 (5-7 MAAC). Marist will aim to rebound against Iona on Saturday, while Fairfield looks to build on their momentum against cross-town rival Sacred Heart, also on Saturday.
