The Philadelphia Eagles achieved a commanding victory in Super Bowl LIX, largely due to their stifling defense, which held the Kansas City Chiefs scoreless for much of the game. Defensive end Josh Sweat played a pivotal role in this defensive stand, and believes his performance warranted Super Bowl MVP consideration.

Sweat recorded a career-high 2.5 sacks against Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, contributing to a total of six sacks on Mahomes – also a career-high for the Chiefs' star. This relentless pressure, combined with two interceptions (including a pick-six by rookie Cooper DeJean), limited the Chiefs to a mere 23 yards in the first half.

While Sweat's statistical contributions were impressive, he felt his overall impact on the game exceeded the numbers, leading him to believe he deserved the MVP award. "I should’ve had it," Sweat commented after the game, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I could’ve had it. It’s all good, though."

Sweat's performance drew comparisons to Von Miller's Super Bowl 50 MVP performance, where Miller also tallied 2.5 sacks and six tackles. However, the Super Bowl LIX MVP award ultimately went to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who delivered a stellar performance with 221 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 72 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown.
