Ryan Blaney's race at Nashville Superspeedway came to an abrupt end on Sunday when he slammed into the wall on lap 146. After being nudged from behind, Blaney lost control, spun onto the grass, and collided head-on with a section of the wall lacking a SAFER barrier, resulting in the hardest impact of his career.
Following the crash, Blaney expressed his disbelief at the absence of a SAFER barrier in that area, calling it "ridiculous." Although shaken, he was thankfully cleared by the infield care center. He voiced his expectation that NASCAR would install a barrier following the incident.
NASCAR acknowledged the incident, stating that they routinely review data after each race weekend and make necessary safety improvements. Blaney, the only driver unable to finish, placed 36th. Ross Chastain ultimately secured his third career victory.
