Allen, Texas Mall Shooter Killed by Police Headshot, Autopsy Confirms

Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

An autopsy report reveals that Mauricio Garcia, the gunman responsible for the tragic mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in Texas on May 6, died from a police-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Collin County medical examiner's report details that the 33-year-old Garcia was shot three times: in the head, right ear, and right arm. The fatal head wound, which entered through Garcia's mouth and pierced his brain, was deemed "immediately fatal." The report confirms that none of the three shots were self-inflicted and attributes the head shot to law enforcement at the scene.

The autopsy also documented Garcia's tattoos, including a swastika on his upper left chest, along with a skull, a panther-like animal, and the words "Texas" and "Fort Worth." Toxicology results indicated the absence of alcohol or illicit drugs in Garcia's system. The attack began around 3:30 p.m. local time when Garcia emerged from a vehicle resembling a Dodge Charger and opened fire. A police officer on-site responded immediately to the sound of gunshots, engaged Garcia, and fatally shot him. Nine people, including Garcia, were killed in the shooting, and ten others were injured. Body camera footage released last month, following a grand jury's determination that the officer's use of force was justified, corroborates this account.

Although Garcia had no prior criminal record, his social media activity revealed an affinity for white supremacy and provided disturbing indications of premeditation and planning for the attack. He characterized mass shootings as a sport and displayed images of his Nazi tattoos.
