A young boy suffered injuries on Tuesday after falling from a water slide at Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park, situated near the Georgia-Tennessee border. The 5-year-old was riding in a double tube on the slide when the incident occurred, resulting in a fall estimated between 15 and 20 feet, according to Catoosa County spokesman John Pless.

Eyewitnesses recounted the frightening scene, with one park visitor telling WZTV that the child appeared to "fly out" of the green and yellow slide. Another witness, Ginger Bence, recalled hearing park staff blow whistles, which she believed to be part of a safety procedure following an injury. "I don't think I'll ever forget it," Bence stated. "I thought 'Is he alive?'"

Following the incident, the child received immediate medical attention at the scene and was subsequently transported to the Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The extent of the child's injuries remains undisclosed.

The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire is actively investigating the water ride. A spokesperson for the agency confirmed an inspector was on-site, but it's too early to share any findings. A comprehensive report is expected in the coming days.

Park officials stated that state inspectors examined the Twist-N-Shout water ride, including the tubes, foundation, and signage, before reopening it. Lake Winnepesaukah emphasized its commitment to providing a safe and welcoming environment for families.
