Federal authorities in Brooklyn have unsealed a 48-count indictment against 22 individuals allegedly tied to the notorious MS-13 gang. The charges include racketeering conspiracy, murder, drug distribution, and money laundering. The defendants, aged 19 to 35, are accused of perpetrating a wave of violence in Queens, New York.
U.S. Attorney Breon Peace condemned the alleged crimes as "brutal, cold-blooded, and utterly senseless," emphasizing the commitment to dismantling MS-13 at every level. The indictment includes new charges against Leyla Carranza for allegedly luring 17-year-old Andy Peralta to Kissena Park in 2018, where he was tragically beaten, stabbed, and strangled. Prosecutors say Peralta's killers photographed themselves posing over his body, displaying MS-13 gang signs.

Additional charges have been brought against individuals involved in the murders of Victor Alvarenga in 2018 and Abel Mosso in 2019. Mosso was allegedly attacked on a subway platform by Victor Lopez, Tito Martinez-Alvarenga, and Ramiro Gutierrez. Prosecutors describe a chilling scene where Mosso wrestled a gun away from his attackers before Gutierrez allegedly yelled, "Nobody get involved, we’re MS-13, we’re going to kill him," and then shot Mosso dead.

The indictment also details the 2020 murder of former MS-13 member Eric Monge, who was allegedly shot near his home shortly after his wife dropped their children off, by a suspected gang member Monge had previously assaulted.

NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell affirmed the NYPD's commitment to working with law enforcement partners to pursue justice against gangs. The defendants include Edenilson Larin, identified as a national MS-13 leader, along with 21 other individuals.
