A 24-year-old Marine Sergeant tragically lost her life following a skiing accident at Powderhorn Mountain Resort in Colorado on Christmas Eve. Jessie Mello was home for the holidays when the incident occurred on an intermediate trail. According to reports, she hit an icy patch and collided with a tree, despite wearing a helmet.
Ski patrol swiftly responded and transported Mello to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, where she was admitted to intensive care. Sadly, after battling severe head injuries and broken bones for several days, she passed away on January 5th.
Mello's funeral took place at Messiah Lutheran Church on January 10th. She was remembered by loved ones as a remarkable individual with immense talent, character, and love. Her family described her as someone who inspired others to strive for their best, celebrated their successes, and helped them learn from their setbacks. They emphasized her unwavering commitment to excellence.
Mello's legacy of love and strength will continue to be cherished by her parents, Eric and Jennifer Mello, and her two brothers, Bo and William Mello.
