Tensions are escalating between Israel and Hamas as the deadline for the release of all Israeli hostages approaches. Israel's security cabinet has expressed full support for former President Trump's demand that Hamas release all hostages by Saturday at noon or face severe consequences. Prime Minister Netanyahu, following a security cabinet meeting, stated that if the hostages are not returned, the ceasefire will end and the IDF will relaunch intensive combat operations against Hamas until the group is decisively defeated. Netanyahu also mentioned that the IDF is currently mobilizing forces around the Gaza Strip in preparation for this possibility.

Former President Trump has publicly stated that the ceasefire should be terminated and "all hell break out" if Hamas fails to meet the deadline. He emphasized that all hostages must be released, not just a few at a time. He reiterated this demand on Tuesday, expressing confidence that Hamas would heed his warning.

Hamas recently announced it would postpone the upcoming release of hostages, alleging that Israel has breached the ceasefire agreement. A Hamas spokesperson cited Israel's alleged failure to allow displaced persons to return to northern Gaza, continued attacks in various areas of Gaza, and restrictions on aid deliveries. Israel and Hamas entered a six-week ceasefire, with Hamas agreeing to release 33 hostages taken during the October 7, 2023 attack in return for the release of nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Five exchanges have taken place so far, resulting in the release of 21 hostages and over 730 Palestinian prisoners. The next exchange was planned for the coming Saturday, involving the release of three more Israeli hostages for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

The parents of a son killed while held captive by Hamas have also spoken out, urging swift action to secure the release of the remaining hostages.
