WWE's Royal Rumble Heads to Riyadh in 2026

Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is taking its iconic Royal Rumble event to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2026. This marks a significant move for the event, which has primarily been held in North America since its inception in 1988, with the exception of the inaugural event held in Ontario, Canada.

WWE President Nick Khan emphasized the global nature of the company, stating that expanding their partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by bringing a major event like the Royal Rumble to Riyadh in January 2026 was a logical step. This isn't the first time Saudi Arabia has hosted a WWE premium live event. The country has previously hosted Crown Jewel, The Greatest Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber Night of Champions, and the King and Queen of the Ring events.

Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the Royal Rumble for the first time outside North America. He highlighted the commitment to bringing world-class entertainment events to the Kingdom and the aim to enhance the entertainment sector while providing a unique experience for a global audience.

Alalshikh further added that they are thrilled to include this historical event as part of Riyadh Season’s activities and anticipate providing an exceptional experience for wrestling fans worldwide. The WWE highlighted the success of Crown Jewel in November, stating it set a viewership record for a WWE event from Saudi Arabia, with a 28% increase from the previous year. The event also marked the sixth consecutive sell-out at the Mohammed Abd Arena in Riyadh.
