A recent Marquette University Law School Poll reveals a tight race in Wisconsin between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis for the Republican presidential nomination. Conducted in early June, the poll shows Trump with a narrow 31% to 30% lead over DeSantis, a difference falling within the margin of error. While other candidates like Mike Pence, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy trail behind, the poll suggests a significant portion of Wisconsin voters are still weighing their options.
Interestingly, when presented with a hypothetical head-to-head matchup between Trump and DeSantis, Wisconsin voters favored DeSantis by a substantial margin (57% to 41%). This preference for DeSantis also holds true among those whose initial choice is neither Trump nor DeSantis, with DeSantis securing 74% support compared to Trump's 25%.

Looking ahead to the general election, the poll indicates a challenging path to victory for both Republican frontrunners against incumbent President Biden. In a hypothetical Biden-DeSantis contest, Biden holds a slight edge with 49% support compared to DeSantis's 47%. The gap widens in a potential Trump-Biden rematch, with Biden leading 52% to Trump's 43%.
The survey also gauged favorability ratings among Republican and Republican-leaning voters. Both Trump and DeSantis enjoy high favorability, with 68% and 67% respectively. Pence follows at 52%, while Haley stands at 32%.

On the Democratic side, President Biden maintains a commanding lead over primary challengers Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson. Biden boasts a 97% favorability rating among Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters, while Kennedy and Williamson combined garner a 60% favorability rating.

The Marquette University Law School Poll surveyed 913 registered voters in Wisconsin, including specific subsets for Republican and Democratic primary preferences. The margin of error for the Republican primary subset is +/- 6.5 percentage points, while the margin of error for the Democratic primary subset is +/- 6 percentage points.
