USGA Gifts Adam Hadwin Safety Gear After Canadian Open Mishap

Following a memorable, albeit slightly embarrassing, incident at the RBC Canadian Open, PGA Tour winner Adam Hadwin received a humorous welcome gift from the USGA upon his arrival in California for the U.S. Open. Hadwin was mistakenly tackled by security while celebrating fellow Canadian Nick Taylor's dramatic 72-foot putt victory. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral, showing Hadwin being taken down by a security guard before being allowed to resume his celebratory dousing of Taylor with champagne.

Undeterred by the brief interruption to his celebrations, Hadwin traveled to California for the U.S. Open. Awaiting him at his locker was a playful gift from the USGA: a vibrant safety vest and two hard hats, accompanied by a message reading, "Glad you’re feeling better and made the trip. Your safety and security are our utmost priority. We’re here to support you and ensure your well-being." Hadwin took the gesture in good spirits, tweeting, "Ready for a great week. Thanks to the USGA for keeping me safe!"

Hadwin, whose best major finish was T7 at the 2022 U.S. Open, will be hoping for another strong performance this year, albeit with perhaps slightly less exuberant celebrations.
