Addressing the Faith & Freedom Coalition Gala in Washington D.C. on the anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, former President Donald Trump declared himself the "most pro-life president" in American history. This ruling, a year prior, overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that established a constitutional right to abortion. The Dobbs decision has paved the way for numerous state-level laws restricting abortion access.

Trump's assertion comes despite criticism from some anti-abortion advocates concerning his previous remarks characterizing Florida's six-week abortion ban as "too harsh." He recounted an anecdote of a supporter defending him to other conservatives, emphasizing his role in the overturning of Roe v. Wade. While the ruling occurred after he left office, Trump's appointment of three conservative Supreme Court justices is widely seen as a contributing factor.
Trump embraced this connection, reiterating his claim and highlighting actions taken during his presidency to restrict abortion access, such as reinstating the Mexico City policy, which prevents federal funding for international organizations that provide abortion services. He also criticized abortion rights supporters, accusing them of advocating for "unlimited abortion on demand" and "executing babies after birth." He labeled them as "radical" and "in trouble with the Lord." Trump concluded by emphasizing the sanctity of life, stating, "Every child, born or unborn, is a sacred gift from God."
