In a heartbreaking incident in Texas City, a father suffered a fatal heart attack while attempting to save his teenage son, who had been accidentally shot by his younger brother. Police arrived at the scene just before 1:30 a.m. to find 17-year-old Joshua Gonzales deceased. The investigation revealed that Joshua's 15-year-old brother accidentally discharged the firearm, leading to the tragic outcome.
As Julian Gonzales, the boys' father, also known as Jay, tried to provide aid to his son, he experienced a heart attack and passed away. Local news station FOX26 Houston reported that Gonzales was a well-known tattoo artist in the community.

Friends and family expressed their grief and shock. Melo Salazar, a friend and business partner, shared with FOX26, "He did so much for so many people. Now he's gone. I know this world is going to feel it. He touched a lot of hearts. He did a lot for the community."

The 15-year-old brother was questioned by detectives and subsequently released as the investigation continues. Those close to the family expressed concern for the younger brother's emotional well-being after the traumatic event. Salazar voiced worries about the "trauma and pain, and questions, and 'what if', and guilt, and blaming himself, and all that even though it was just a mere accident."

Jay Gonzales was the owner of Artistic Image Tattoo Studio in Texas City, located approximately 42 miles southeast of Houston. He was remembered as a dedicated father and a compassionate businessman known for his willingness to help others.
