Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton took a heavy hit during their overtime SEC Championship victory against the Texas Longhorns. Stepping in after Carson Beck's injury, Stockton led the Bulldogs to the Longhorns' 12-yard line in overtime, with Georgia trailing by three. He executed a quarterback draw, reaching the first-down marker before being met by two Texas defenders. The impact dislodged his helmet, forcing him out of the game.

The subsequent play saw running back Trevor Etienne score the winning touchdown, sealing a 22-19 victory for Georgia. Stockton's performance before the hit included completing 12 of 16 passes for 71 yards.

Head coach Kirby Smart confirmed that Stockton avoided a concussion and was ready to return, but the game concluded before he could. The anticipated first-round bye in the College Football Playoff should afford Beck additional recovery time.
