Police Motorcycle Crashes into Crowd at Palm Springs Christmas Parade

A Palm Springs police officer on motorcycle escort duty crashed into spectators during the city's annual Festival of Lights parade on Saturday evening, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to ten individuals, including the officer. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Palm Canyon Drive and Amado Road. According to Lt. Gustavo Araiza, a spokesperson for the Palm Springs Police Department, witness accounts varied, and investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident.

The parade was temporarily halted but resumed approximately an hour and twenty minutes later. Both Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein and Police Chief Andy Mills expressed their concern and support for those affected by the accident. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
