Former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers and his wife, Tiffany, are expecting their tenth child, a boy, this October. Rivers, who played 16 seasons with the Chargers and one with the Indianapolis Colts, shared the news with AL.com. The couple's nine children, seven girls and two boys, range in age from 4 to 21. This new addition breaks a family tradition of nine children, shared by both Rivers' mother and maternal grandfather.

Rivers expressed his family's excitement about welcoming another boy into the fold. He humorously noted the longer-than-usual gap between this child and their ninth, adding that while they thought they would follow the family trend of having nine children, "God decided" otherwise.

Rivers retired from the NFL in 2021 after a distinguished 17-season career. He's the Chargers' all-time leading passer with 59,271 yards over 228 games and earned eight Pro Bowl selections. A memorable moment in his career was being drafted fourth overall by the New York Giants in 2004 and then being traded to the Chargers for Eli Manning. Rivers is now the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama, where his eldest son will be the starting quarterback this upcoming season, with their first game on August 17.
