Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has questioned the attendance of politicians at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, particularly those who previously denounced him as a danger to democracy. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Omar expressed her confusion over the presence of these politicians, contrasting it with the criticism directed at performers attending the event. She argued that performers are simply fulfilling a paid engagement, while the politicians' attendance represents a betrayal of their previous pronouncements.

Omar further asserted that artists and performers should not be held to political loyalty tests, emphasizing that in a free society, individuals should be able to support any political party without fear of professional repercussions.

Fox News Digital contacted both the Trump-Vance transition team and the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee for clarification on whether performers at the inauguration and related events were receiving compensation. A committee spokesperson confirmed that performers were not being paid.
The inauguration ceremony will feature performances by Carrie Underwood, Christopher Macchio, and Lee Greenwood. Additional celebratory balls will include performances by Rascal Flatts and Parker McCollum, Jason Aldean, The Village People, Nelly, and Gavin DeGraw.
