Ohio State Representative Bob Young faces domestic violence charges following an alleged assault on a family member. Police reports indicate that the incident occurred on Thursday and involved physical violence and an attempt to prevent the victim from contacting authorities. Young appeared in court on Saturday and is now subject to multiple protection orders, restricting his contact with the alleged victim.

Following the incident, House Speaker Jason Stephens urged Young to resign from his position. The alleged assault occurred after a fundraising event for Young and another lawmaker, which Stephens attended earlier in the evening. Stephens emphasized the importance of due process while also requesting Young's resignation to prioritize his family matters. Young's office has not yet issued a public statement, and attempts to reach him directly have been unsuccessful. Court documents do not currently list legal representation for Young. The Summit County Sheriff's office has also been contacted for further details.
