A harrowing incident unfolded in Ohio when a seven-year-old girl begged her father to spare her life during a police standoff. Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, abducted his daughter, Oaklynn, from her grandmother's residence on November 11th. He lacked legal custody of the child.

An Amber Alert was issued, leading to a police pursuit after officers located Oaklynn in Brunswick. Alexander refused to stop, prompting a multi-jurisdictional chase. Police deployed stop sticks, bringing Alexander's vehicle to a halt in a parking lot, where the standoff commenced.

Audio recordings reveal Alexander threatening to kill both himself and Oaklynn. "I will shoot us both, stand back!" he yelled. Oaklynn's pleas, "Please don't," were audible in the background. Alexander also directed threats towards the child's mother, saying, "I wanna talk to her mother. If you’re listening, Ashley, you should've called."

A conversation between father and daughter ensued, with Oaklynn asking about going to heaven. Initially curious, she quickly became terrified, crying out, "No! I don't want to go to heaven today!" Alexander responded, "I didn't want it to happen either, I just wanted to talk to your mother."

Dispatchers tried to de-escalate the situation, urging Alexander to consider his daughter's well-being. "Let's not do anything we can’t undo," one pleaded. Another encouraged him to keep talking to Oaklynn to calm her fears, emphasizing his love for her.
