Following the recent election, MSNBC has experienced a substantial drop in viewership across its primetime lineup, with host Joy Reid among those seeing a significant decline. "The ReidOut" has lost a considerable portion of its audience, experiencing a decrease of 47% in total viewers and a staggering 52% drop within the coveted 25-54 age demographic. This translates to an average of 759,000 total viewers, down from 1.4 million pre-election, and only 76,000 viewers in the key demographic.

This downward trend extends across MSNBC's primetime programming. The network's overall primetime viewership has fallen by 53% in total viewers and 61% in the key demo. Even Rachel Maddow, MSNBC's most prominent host, has seen her audience shrink. While still boasting the highest viewership numbers on the network, Maddow's program experienced a 43% decrease in total viewers and a 56% decline in the 25-54 demographic since the election. Chris Hayes and Jen Psaki, who replaced Hayes on Mondays, have also witnessed substantial losses in viewership, with drops exceeding 50% in total viewers and even more pronounced declines within the key demographic. Alex Wagner, filling in for Maddow, and Lawrence O'Donnell have similarly experienced significant audience reductions.

Beyond the immediate viewership concerns, MSNBC's future remains unclear. Parent company NBCUniversal's plans to spin off the network, along with other cable channels, raise questions about the network's long-term trajectory, including its very name.
