Matt Damon, known for his roles in films like "The Bourne Identity," recently revealed a heartwarming story about his first significant Hollywood earnings. Instead of indulging in a lavish purchase, Damon used the $25,000 he received for his role in the 1990 film "Rising Son" to support his family. He bought his brother a car and, most notably, funded his mother Nancy Carlsson-Paige's pursuit of a Ph.D.
This revelation came during a conversation with his "Oppenheimer" co-stars, Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy. Both expressed admiration for Damon's selfless act. Murphy, in contrast, shared that he spent his first big paycheck on a sound system, while Blunt used hers to rent an apartment and gain independence from her parents.
Damon and Blunt, who are neighbors, also discussed their living situation. Blunt, married to actor John Krasinski, enjoys the convenience and camaraderie of living in the same building as Damon. They often have dinner parties together, but Blunt humorously stated that one thing they'll never do is read lines together. She jokingly added that she doesn't want Damon's acting notes.
Both actors also touched upon their roles in the upcoming film "Oppenheimer," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography. The movie, starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife Kitty, explores the life of the theoretical physicist known as the "father of the atomic bomb."
