The arrest stems from a December 17, 2024 incident where Lacy was allegedly driving recklessly, speeding and illegally passing another vehicle. This maneuver reportedly caused another driver to swerve, resulting in a head-on collision with a separate vehicle. Tragically, a 78-year-old retired U.S. Marine was killed in the crash, and two other individuals sustained injuries.

According to Louisiana State Police, Lacy left the scene of the accident without offering assistance. Just two days after the fatal crash, he declared for the NFL Draft. Lacy did not participate in the Tigers' Texas Bowl victory against Baylor on December 31st. An arrest warrant was issued last week, and Lacy is currently held at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex with a bond set at $151,000. LSU has declined to comment on the situation, citing respect for the legal process.
