Can Joey Chestnut devour his way to another victory? The competitive eating legend is the frontrunner for Tuesday's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, aiming for his 16th championship title.
Last year's competition saw Chestnut face an unexpected challenge when an animal rights activist attempted to disrupt the event. Despite competing with a leg injury, Chestnut managed to subdue the protester while simultaneously consuming 63 hot dogs and buns in the allotted 10 minutes.

Major League Eating president Rich Shea revealed to ESPN that Chestnut believes the interruption cost him approximately five hot dogs. In 2021, Chestnut set the world record by consuming an incredible 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes at the same Coney Island venue.
In the lead-up to this year's competition, Chestnut expressed optimism about his condition to TMZ Sports, stating he's feeling healthier and confident about a successful Fourth of July performance.

While Direct Action Everywhere, the group responsible for last year’s protest, hasn't confirmed plans for this year, they expressed hope that animal welfare concerns would remain a focus at the event. Increased security measures are anticipated for this year's contest.

The women's competition is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. ET, followed by the men's competition at noon.
