Seventeen-year-old Connor Kasin, a high school hockey player from Massapequa, New York, tragically passed away after experiencing a medical emergency during a game on Saturday. The Massapequa High School administration confirmed the 12th-grader's death in a letter addressed to faculty, students, and parents, expressing their profound condolences to Kasin's family and friends and acknowledging the devastating impact of this loss on the community. The incident took place at the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center. According to Nassau County police, bystanders initiated CPR before first responders arrived at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Representative Anthony D’Esposito (R-N.Y.) offered his condolences via social media, expressing his sadness and offering prayers for Kasin's family and the Massapequa community. At the time of the medical emergency, Kasin was playing for the Sharks Elite Youth Hockey team. The club also shared their grief and condolences on Facebook, asking for thoughts and prayers for the Kasin family. Massapequa High School officials have announced that grief counseling services will be available for students throughout the week.
