Following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, a Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly threatening a Blue Cross Blue Shield representative. 42-year-old Briana Boston of Lakeland, Florida, reportedly expressed her frustration over denied medical claims in a phone call, using the phrase "Delay, deny, depose. You people are next," according to FOX 13 Tampa Bay. This chilling echo of the words found on shell casings at Thompson's murder scene prompted Lakeland police to investigate. Boston reportedly admitted to making the statement and apologized, claiming she did not own any firearms and posed no threat. However, she also expressed her belief that healthcare companies “deserved karma” and called them “evil” for their practices, according to an arrest affidavit. This incident follows the arrest of Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate, for Thompson's murder in New York City on December 4th. The phrase on the shell casings has sparked polarized reactions online, with some condemning the violence while others portray Mangione as a vigilante. In the aftermath of the killing, UnitedHealthcare and other insurance companies, including some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and pharmacies, have removed executive photos and names from their websites due to concerns about potential copycat threats.
