A Florida man working as a school instructor has been arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, after allegedly shooting at police officers. 35-year-old Tombe Juma-Kose Thomas faces two counts of attempted murder following the December 28 incident.

Thomas was staying at an Airbnb with his girlfriend while visiting family. He reportedly barricaded himself in a bathroom, believing an intruder was present, and accused his girlfriend of involvement. Responding officers knocked on the bathroom window and identified themselves, at which point Thomas fired a shot through the window, narrowly missing the officers.

He later surrendered and claimed he fired a "warning shot." Thomas is employed by Volusia County Schools in Florida as an instructor in the Positive Alternative to School Suspension program at Atlantic High School. He previously worked as an Exceptional Student Education instructor at Deltona High School and coached football at both schools.

The school district has confirmed Thomas's employment and initiated an internal investigation. Thomas is being held on a $250,000 bond and is due in court for a preliminary hearing. He is also a former fullback for Syracuse University.
