Music icon Elton John recently announced the loss of sight in one eye due to a severe infection. The revelation came during the opening night of his musical adaptation of "The Devil Wears Prada" in London. Addressing the audience, John shared his vision impairment, expressing his difficulty in seeing but his joy in hearing the performance.

In a previous interview with "Good Morning America," the 77-year-old singer disclosed that the infection had affected his right eye, leaving him unable to see for four months. He also mentioned that his left eye isn't in optimal condition, adding to the challenge. While hopeful for improvement, John expressed uncertainty about his ability to return to studio work, particularly due to the difficulty in reading lyrics.

John's initial announcement about the eye infection came in September via social media. He described the infection as severe and acknowledged the slow healing process. At the time, he shared that he was spending the summer recuperating at home and was optimistic about his recovery.

Despite the health setback, John has been actively involved in promoting his documentary, "Elton John: Never Too Late," set to premiere on Disney+ on December 13. He also composed the score for "The Devil Wears Prada."
