Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is facing a civil lawsuit over allegations of sexual assault that reportedly occurred during Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals in Miami. The plaintiff, a senior executive at a Wall Street firm, claims the incident took place in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center on June 9, 2023.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, alleges that McGregor assaulted the woman with the assistance of arena personnel and security. It further claims that the arena staff were aware of McGregor's potential for harmful behavior but failed to provide adequate protection for the plaintiff. The suit also contends that McGregor was overserved alcohol despite the arena’s awareness of the increased risk of assault.

McGregor's attorney, Barbara Llanes, has vehemently denied the allegations, stating that a previous investigation by the State's Attorney found no basis for criminal charges. She expressed confidence that this civil case will also be dismissed, characterizing the plaintiff's account as a fabricated narrative. Llanes pointed to the significant time elapsed and the involvement of multiple lawyers on the plaintiff's side as further evidence of the claim's lack of merit.

McGregor was at the game promoting a pain relief product and participated in a promotional skit involving the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie. The plaintiff alleges she was escorted to a men's restroom by a member of McGregor's entourage, where the alleged assault took place. The Miami Heat organization has declined to comment on the pending litigation.
