The puzzling disappearance of Carlee Russell continues to unfold with new details emerging about her online activity and actions leading up to the event. Just 40 minutes before calling 911 to report a toddler wandering on Interstate 459 near Birmingham, Alabama, Russell posted a series of tweets. These posts, made at 8:55 p.m. and 8:56 p.m. on July 13th, expressed positive sentiments about her day and the desire for someone to express their love for her. A final tweet at 9:19 p.m., a mere 15 minutes before the 911 call, stated, "yeah i want a family now."
Russell's 911 call, placed at approximately 9:34 p.m., led to a large-scale search. She reappeared at her home around 10:45 p.m. on July 15th, reportedly walking alone. However, authorities have found no evidence to corroborate her claim of a toddler on the interstate.

Adding to the mystery, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis revealed Russell's actions prior to the incident. She left her workplace, Woodhouse Spa Birmingham, around 8:20 p.m. with a bathrobe, toilet paper, and other items. She then picked up food from Taziki's Mediterranean Café and purchased granola bars and Cheez-Its from Target, remaining in the parking lot until 9:21 p.m. These snacks were not found in her vehicle, where her purse, Apple Watch, and the Taziki's order were discovered. Her cellphone was located near the car.

Former FBI Special Agent Jonathan Gilliam commented on the situation, suggesting that the circumstances, including the abandoned personal items, point towards a pre-planned event rather than an abduction. Meanwhile, Russell's boyfriend, Thomar Latrell Simmons, has removed photos of the couple from his social media accounts and deleted a post claiming Russell had been "fighting for her life." The investigation, involving the U.S. Secret Service, FBI, and U.S. Marshals, continues as authorities attempt to piece together Russell's whereabouts during the 49 hours she was missing.
